Wildlife at Ubuntu Camp!

Hi all, have a look at the nice images from Ubuntu, and what is nice and a first, is a very nice little bird list of the birds around the camp.



Around the camp we have got the following species of birds
·         Lilac breasted roller
·         Black shouldered Kite
·         Green pigeon
·         Red cheeked cordon bleu
·         Dusky flycatcher
·         Bared faced go away bird
·         Superb starling
·         Mourning Dove
·         Mocking cliff chat
·         Brown parrot
·         Grey social weaver
·         Ruppels Starling
·         Red eyed dove
·         Magpie shrike
·         Marabou stork
·         Ring necked dove
·         White headed buffalo weavers
·         White backed vulture
·         Green wood hoopoe
·         Grey headed bush shrike
·         Northern white crowned shrike

  1. I don't know where Ubuntu is (but I'm guessing northern Serengeti somewhere?), but your combinations of bird species looks surprising - is that really a Dusky Flycatcher there? More typically a highland forest species, I'd expect Grey or possibly Pale to be the common flycatcher in the habitats of the other species on your list ... for good bird pics have a look at http://www.tanzaniabirds.net/alphabetical1.htm
    I'll obviously just have to come and visit...

    Yes it is in Northern Serengeti, when I saw the list I also thought Dusky Flycatcher to be interesting, will get them to re check, and welcome anytime to visit.

  3. Don't know how to contact you direct, so here's my list from Ubuntu back in Sept. Some good birds here - Stout Cisticola are pretty tricky everywhere these days, whilst Green-capped Eremomela is a Miombo specialist with a strange and rarely seen population in the northern Serengeti.
